Urban Realities: Landscape Urbanism 3-Day Design Challenge
Victoria State of Design Festival
An initiative of the Office of Urban Transformations Research (OUTR), the challenge saw teams from across the world compete to design and construct a temporary urban intervention in just three days.
The brief: Making or becoming larger in size or amount. The challenge was to stimulate pedestrian circulation to the historical boat sheds on the western end of the wharf.
The installation was made by knotting strips of recycled blue plastic to mesh fencing. These rustling blue panes were designed to “extend a limb” and draw people towards the boat sheds. The project was the winner of the public vote.
